Lights-Out 1.6.1 update released

Lights-Out 1.6.1 has been released today. This is primarily a bug fix update which fixes some Windows 10 issues. We also added official support for Windows Server 2016 Essentials Technical Preview 3 and Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). More details can be found in the release notes.

To update to the latest version, please follow these easy steps:

Update Window Home Server 2011 and all Windows Server Essentials editions

1. Download the new package
2. Start all clients
3. Open Dashboard and verify that all clients are online
4. In Dashboard, click on tab Application, then right click Lights-Out and remove the add-in:
   
5. Close Dashboard! This step is necessary to prevent a server reboot because of locked files.
6. Install the new package. Double click on the downloaded *.wssx file and follow the wizard.
   Important: Select “On the server and on all computers on the network”:
   
7. Open Dashboard again, go to Lights-Out and verify that your are running the latest version:
   
8. Select tab Computers in Lights-Out and verify that all Windows Computers have updated to the latest version:
   
9. If you do not see the latest version after waiting some minutes, go to Applications, select Lights-Out and click on “Install the add-in on network computers”.
10. To update a Mac OS X client, open Windows Launchpad, wait for the detection of a new version, then restart Launchpad. Next click on Add-Ins and “Uninstall Lights-Out”. Then click on “Install Lights-Out”.

Update Windows Desktop computers used as Server and standard Windows Server

1. Download the latest version to the server machine
2. Run the downloaded file and follow the steps. You do not have to remove the previous version!
3. After installation, open Lights-Out and verify that you are running the latest version:
   
4. Click on tab Computers and verify that the clients have updated to the latest version:
   
5. Offline machines are updated as soon as they are online again (if you have a licensed version). Otherwise run the client installer from share \\server\lights-out.
6. To update a Mac OS X client, open Finder, select menu Go To and connect to your server.
7. Open share Lights-Out. There you will find a LightsOutAgentInstall.pkg
   
8. Drag the installer to your Mac Desktop and run it. It will automatically remove the old version and then install the new version.

Update Windows Home Server v1

1. Download the new package and copy the .msi file to \\server\Software\Add Ins.
2. Open WHS Console and click on settings. Select Add-ins, Installed Add-ins.
3. Select Lights-Out and click on “Uninstall”.
4. WHS Console will automatically close.
5. Open WHS Console again, click on Settings, Add-Ins and select “Available Add-Ins”.
6. Select the new version of Lights-Out and click on “Install”. The console will close after installation.
7. Open WHS Console again and verify that you are running the latest version:
   
8. Click on tab Computers and verify that the clients have updated to the latest version:
